| 1994 | PIREL entered the document management market with a simple
but original idea for economically printing business forms. At this
time, many people were still manually configuring print jobs - inserting
and aligning paper in the printer, adjusting cartridges, assembling
attachments, and collating forms.
PIREL developed an affordable alternative to automate the process - the PIREL Composition Module. A printer equipped with this PC technology was able to format, assemble, archive, and print customized documents. The system was flexible and convenient, and provided many of the same features as the more expensive technologies offered by companies like Xerox or IBM. |
| 1996 | In 1996 PIREL won an exclusive 5 year, $10,000,000 contract
to provide printers to Hydro Quebec. Hydro Quebec equipped many
of its printers with the PIREL Composition Module to print documents
and business forms.

| 1998 | PIREL developed the EFS Server™, a document repository
and information directory. With the EFS Server™, documents
were archived, retrieved, and distributed over a network. The server
included a comprehensive set of tools for ensuring security, managing
user profiles, and controlling document access. PIREL could now
provide a cost effective modular document management solution.
|
| 2000 | The addition of a web-based user interface in 2000 greatly
enhanced the potential of the PIREL EFS Server™. Users could
now search for and retrieve documents over the Internet using only
a standard web browser. For multi-user systems, this was a particularly
economical and convenient feature, since software was not installed
and maintained on individual computers. While other providers often claimed to offer this feature, in many cases their software still left a “fingerprint” at each workstation. PIREL's system required absolutely no installation of software at the workstation, and was thus a truly web-based solution. Once again, PIREL could offer its customers the convenience of a more advanced technology at an affordable cost. |
| 2004 | After an intense research and development phase,
PIREL released the latest version of the PIREL EFS Server™.
The PIREL suite now provides more advanced imaging, workflow, and report management capabilities. It also offers greatly enhanced security features, improved administration tools, and a superior web interface. These enhancements, together with a published Application Programming Interface (API), make the PIREL EFS Server™ the ideal tool for managing enterprise content. |
| 2005+ | Our promise to you: PIREL is committed to developing intelligent, secure, software that will enable our customers to better manage business content over a corporate intranet and the Internet. |
